Summary: One day Mari would forget all about Kaori and find someone else.


“One day you’ll forget about me,” Kaori said softly.

“No!” the other girl screamed as tears ran down her face. Mari grabbed a hold of the taller woman’s shoulders and looked up at her. “I will never forget you, Kaori,” she spoke quieter now. “Please. Don’t do this.”

Kaori closed her eyes and let out a big breath. There was no way that she could look her in the eyes. She could not bear to see the pain, the heartache. She knew that Mari was young, and that she would be able to over come this. In time she will find someone else.

“Kaori!” Mari screamed again this time shaking the other woman as she did so.

Three years had passed since that night. Things between them had been awkward, and once Kaori graduated from Morning Musume the two had stopped talking to one another completely.

Kaori sat at the little coffee table with her bagel and smoothie in front of her. She pulled out the magazine that she had brought from the corner store. Taking a sip from her smoothie, Kaori opened the magazine up and nearly spit out her drink. There was her Mari (wait, scratch that, Mari was not hers anymore) holding hands with a very handsome young man.

Kaori felt her heart stop. Her fingers traced the outline of Mari’s sweet, happy smile, and Kaori felt herself smiling back a sort of sad yet happy smile at the picture.

“Told you,” she whispered to herself. “I told you that you would forget all about me, Mari.”
